Santa arrested for beating street sign

It's truly a "sign of our times" that a Sepulpa, Oklahoma Santa Claus was arrested on Christmas morning for allegedly beating a street sign with a No Parking sign that he'd pulled from the ground. Apparently this Claus had been drinking.

It's stories like this that make you wish the blue states could secede from the Union. What sort of culture allows people to dress in a no doubt red and white fur "suit, hat, beard and gloves"? While the fur was probably fake, what was he doing intoxicated on what is a holy day for millions of Americans?

Can there be any doubt that this Jolly Old Saint Nick was a good Bush supporter? Clearly the corruption of the Bush administration and of Judy Miller and the New York Times has "trickled down" to even the redcollars of Oklahoma. I cannot believe that we have three more years of this administration to go. How much more damage will they do to the American spirit in that time?

Justice for Banana Boy!

banana boy arrested

The recent arrest of Banana Boy has generated a slew of bad puns and bad reportage from sources as varied as the PostStar and the UPI ("Banana Boy generates bunches of media inquiries"; that story was conveniently erased from the Star's site).

What's been lost is a fundamental travesty of justice and the omnipresent police state powers caused, at root, by the Bush administration.

The "Boy" is a costumed character who appears on WMCE TV-8 in upstate New York. He plays a crime fighter, and last week he and two co-stars were filming a fight in Hudson Falls. A policeman saw the fight, and, not realizing it was staged, pulled his gun and arrested all three.

Now, BB and his friends have been sentenced: 40 hours community service, plus a $100 fine. And, all they were doing is shooting a scene.

Aren't there better things our police and courts could be doing? For instance, finding those missing WMDs. Or, how about looking into Jack Abramoff's or Tom Delay's connections? Maybe they should go to Alaska and try to find out more about global warming.

I guess that wouldn't be too "appealing". To tell you the truth, I am sickened by this whole spectacle and this administration.

Melvin Duchovny is a fraud and will not post here again

I cannot believe that I am forced to do this. However, Mel Duchovny's actions earlier today have forced my hand and I have no choice.

Melvin will not be posting at Huff And Blow again.

Furthermore, he is a fraud, as I shall shortly explain.

However, I have no time at the moment as Martin Sheen, Ed Asner, Robert Sheer, David Faustino and I are currently flying on a chartered flight to San Quentin to try to help free Tookie Williams. More later...

SIT-IN FOR MARC MARON OF AIR AMERICA RADIO

melvin duchovny avatar I have written here in the past about the attempts by the right-wing cabal to censor liberal media, but those posts have strangely not appeared at the site. I have also written about the refusal of certain rich "liberals" to fund the liberal media, but that also has not appeared.

Enough is enough. The time is now.

As I write this, I am engaging in a sit-in at Huff And Blow's Beverly Hills headquarters. I will not leave until I am carried out of here or Ariadne and her superrich friends meet my demands.

I have chained myself to a desk in the reception area, making typing rather difficult. I have a supply of batteries for my laptop and access to electricity. I have also brought a backpack full of food and water.

I plan to be here as long as it takes. I will not leave until Air America Radio reinstates Marc Maron to his former job as co-host of Morning Sedition. I also will not leave until those rich celebrity "liberals" begin funding true alternative radio and TV and other media.

The time for inaction and watching my posts being removed is over. All power to the people!

"Princess Leia in her Bikini": Is slavery just a fun joke?

princess leia star wars slave outfit

My cousin, the author and former member of the Clinton administration Sidney Ciccilini, sent me a link to a site featuring women dressed in Princess Leia's "slave outfit" from Star Wars as a joke. It was funny for a few seconds, until I realized what was being discussed at the site and the subtext. My laughter soon stopped: slavery is not a joke.

Turning to the encyclopedia, we see that millions were enslaved and thousands died through the centuries when there was slavery. And, many millions of their descendents are more or less slaves even today. Is that funny? If so, then why aren't they laughing at this "joke"?

And, why would women parade their own subjugation? References are made throughout the site to "boyfriends" and how much they appreciate these bikinis. I'm sure they do: most men aren't that much evolved from the days when women were simply property. But, why would these women celebrate this? Do they think it's sexy to support them being controlled by men?

I understand that these "Cons" and this dressing-up is a good outlet for people who appear to be, to be frank, nerds. I am vaguely reminded of another sub-culture: furdom. But, at least in that no subjugation or slavery is the common theme: all animals are on the same equal footing.

The violent subtext of the photos of Julie are particularly disturbing. Is that supposed to be some kind of a "turn-on"? If so, why am I not "turned-on"?
